آسکر ایوارڈ جیتنے والی پاکستانی فلم ساز اور سماجی کارکن شرمین عبید چنائے کی ایک اور دستاویزی فلم کو 41ویں ایمی ایوارڈز کے لیے نامزد کرلیا گیا۔

معروف ٹی وی ایوارڈز فیسٹیول ’ایمی‘ نے شرمین عبید چنائے کی دستاویزی فلم فریڈم فائٹرز کو 41ویں سالانہ نیوز اینڈ ڈاکیومنٹری ایوارڈز برائے 'بیسٹ فیچر اسٹوری ان نیوز میگزین' کے لیے نامزد کیا ہے۔

فریڈم فائٹرز 3 بہادر خواتین کی کہانی پر مبنی ہے جن میں ایک ماضی میں کم عمری کی شادی کا شکار، ایک پولیس افسر اور مزدوری کی جنگ کرنے والی خواتین شامل ہیں جو عدم مساوات کے خلاف آواز اٹھاتی ہیں اور ملک میں یکساں حقوق پر زور دیتی ہیں۔

اس حوالے سے شرمین عبید چنائے کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ وہ مضامین ہیں جو مشکل بات چیت کا آغاز کرتے ہیں اور لوگوں کو غیر آرام دہ کرتے ہیں، تبدیلی اسی وقت آتی ہے جب لوگوں کو ایک مسئلے پر بات کرنے پر مجبور کیا جاتا ہے۔

خیال رہے کہ ایمی ایوارڈز کے فاتحین کا اعلان 21 ستمبر کو آن لائن تقریب میں کیا جائے گا۔

New York August 7th 2020: Nominations for the 41th Annual News and Documentary Emmy®️ Awards were announced today by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Academy Award winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Maheen Sadiq’s (@maheensadiq) film Freedom Fighters was nominated in the Best feature story in a news magazine Category. The winners will be announced Sept 21st at an online ceremony (watch.theemmys.tv). Freedom Fighters was produced by SOC Films for the Center for Investigative Journalism. It was part of a documentary series which features the work of four female filmmakers who have produced films about women taking control, taking power and taking chances. The short documentary film (33 minutes) interweaves the stories of three brave women – a former child bride, a police officer and a labor crusader – who are speaking out against inequality and pushing for equal rights. The short documentary features a mix of verité sequences and animation as it follows these crusaders on a mission to create a more just country for their fellow citizens. The film has played in festivals around the world and won the best documentary short award at Tallgrass Film Festival. The nominations are also indicative of the quality of talent being produced by the local Film and Arts industry. The SOC Films team comprises of Director of Photography @nadirsid , who was previously nominated for an Emmy for his work in A Girl in the River and editor @husainqaizar who has edited multiple award winning documentary films and sound engineer @vasyf who worked on both Saving Face and A Girl in the River. #pakistan #emmynominated #socfilms
